ALLEGATIONS that Brisbane City LNP councillor Geraldine Knapp intervened to stop two men being fined over the alleged improper redevelopment of a Graceville house have been referred to the Crime and Misconduct Commission.
Newly independent councillor Nicole Johnston alleged at last night’s council meeting that Cr Knapp had directed a council officer to cease enforcement action against the businessmen, both understood to be LNP supporters.
Cr Knapp said in a statement the allegations were “wrong and defamatory”.
Cr Jane Prentice last night called on Cr Johnston to formally apologise and withdraw the “premeditated and defamatory attack”, but Cr Johnston refused.
Lord Mayor Campbell Newman said the council CEO had referred the matter to the CMC.
